the-parks-ca_agm-minutes-24-08

Notice of AGM – Another year has gone by and we’ve reached that time again where we’d like to invite you to attend our AGM on the evening of 24th August 8pm at the centre.

The community association is made up of volunteers who all give their time to the centre. Would you like to be involved? Come along to our AGM where you can stand for one of the positions, or as a member of the committee. We’re always looking for any volunteers who can help, even if you don’t think you’ll have enough time, anything is greatly appreciated. Details of committee members who were elected last year can be found on our Committee pages

If you don’t want to join the committee, please come along anyway to be able to vote for those that are standing, this will also give you an opportunity to better know who will be looking after the centre over the next year. We sadly didn’t reach quorate last year, don’t let this year be the same, come along to see how our AGM is held and at least share in a cup of tea!
Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you at the AGM 🙂

TPCA AGM Agenda 24_08_16

Table Top Sale – Sat 25th June 2016. 8am to 11am.

Table Top Sale at The Parks Community Centre

Do you have a garage full of old toys that your children are too old for, a wardrobe full of clothes you don’t wear any more or indeed any other items you want to re-home? Then bring them along to the Table Top Sale, pass them on to neighbours and friends and earn yourself some money at the same time.

We are offering 10 tables for hire in the Community Centre main hall and weather permitting will be also offering 10 spaces in the garden for people to bring their own tables. Both of these options will be on a first come first served basis.

Additionally, if you would like to sell stuff out of your own garage or house front then we will add you to the Table Top Treasure map which will be handed out at the Centre on the day and publicised beforehand. We just need you to specify what kind of goods you will be offering e.g. Garden tools, furniture etc. People can then make their way around the neighbourhood to look at what interests them.

Charges
For hiring a table in the hall it will be £6
For supplying your own table and using space in the garden it will be £5

To come along and shop it will be £1 each for the first hour and after that 50p each.
Tea and cake will be available for a small charge.

(All monies raised in the Centre will go back into the Committee funds for future events)

If you would like to take part in the first of hopefully many Table Top sales, then please contact anna@theparksca.org.uk or message me at Wilfie Regan on the FB Community site. We will let you know as soon as possible if you have a table. We will also keep a waiting list in case people drop out and as future contacts for the next one we run.

Community Garden project

Just over a week ago, The Parks Community Association volunteers gave up their time to make your Community Centre look AMAZING! 😍
Despite some serious rain, weeds and obligatory ‘debris’ in the ground…and thanks to some kind donations from Homebase and Sainsburys….the front bed has all been turned, one third has been weeded and planted with some lovely spring flowers (all donated). We also have two lovely pots planted by the front doors to make our entrance lovely and bright.
Thanks to two absolute stars Amy Howard and Martin Reilly for putting in so much for us all. Thanks too to Andrew for giving his lunch hour in the rain to help weed!
I think you’ll agree this LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

Grand Opening

On Saturday 20th June we’re pleased to say that we finally opened our doors to the public for an official opening.
Before telling you about the event we would firstly like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to the opening event today, to those that set up stalls to show you what they were offering, and those that helped out with time or tables or cleaning or tea making or photo taking!

We hope that everyone had as fantastic a time as we did and enjoyed being able to see the centre for our community.

The day kicked off with some speeches by the Mayor and some of our local councillors, moving on to an official ribbon cutting outside with group photos of our community in front of the centre.

For the rest of the day we had a very informal format with the centre open to have a look around, the main hall being the place of most interest. With Guides, Scouts, Childrens group, Fitness groups, and a family church group being represented we hope that most of the community were able to find something of interest that will be on offer in the centre. Of course we had free refreshments throughout the day which included, what we originally thought was, an astounding amount of cake, there were many empty cake trays by the end!

Within the centre we set up a space where children could sit in our quieter meeting room with the brightly coloured kids tables and chairs and enjoy a bit of colouring in. We’re pleased to say we had some fantastic images drawn by the children and will be picking a winner for a small prize shortly.

We placed a comments box in the reception area of the centre and are incredibly pleased that this was used, if you’d like to read some of the comments left, and our feedback you can find them here: You said – Our feedback

We’ll be putting up images shortly, both here and on our social network Facebook and Twitter feeds, but if you have any images from the day we’d love for you to share them, join our social networks or email us any time!

Again a massive thank you and we hope this proves to be an amazing start to a long serving centre that works for it’s community!

It almost feels unreal, but our Grand Opening is finally happening at 10am on June 20th.

We’re really excited about the day and hope that as many people as possible come and join us in celebrating the long awaited opening of the centre.

Throughout the day the volunteers of the Association will be around to try and answer any questions you may have, we’ll have a variety of regular hirers on site to give you information about what they may be offering, an official opening will take place with a ribbon cutting, we’ve had confirmation that some of our local PCSOs will be on site – perhaps bring your bike and see if they can give advice on keeping it safe from theft, and of course there will be light refreshments and some childrens activities!

Leaflet

Closer and closer!

Spring is starting to clear in the air, and at the last association meeting it certainly had a feel of excitement and spring to it.

As we edge into the year we find ourselves much closer to an agreed hand over date for the centre. Just paperwork seems to be the only thing holding us up at this point.

So, as the association holds more meetings, and has more discussions, it’s getting to that point in time where we are starting to fill out the timetable and look at getting groups booked in ready for the grand opening.

If you haven’t already expressed your interest in using the centre, and potentially being one of the first to do so, please hurry now, see the expressions of interest letter which includes a bid for interest form.

The association is due to meet again in the next couple of weeks, and is looking to discuss potential user groups and timetable clashes before then so you don’t have long to get your interest known!
